About HopeSpring
There's a particular version of the web design conversation that happens a lot in Iowa. Someone quotes a number that seems too low, someone else quotes one that seems absurd, and neither explains what accounts for the difference. It's hard to make a decision when nobody will tell you what you're actually buying.
HopeSpring Digital is run by Caresa, a Squarespace specialist with 7+ years on the platform, more than 200 launches, and Squarespace Circle membership. We build on one platform and turn down WordPress work. Prices are published further down this page, in numbers, before you have to talk to anyone. We're a Minnesota studio and every project is remote, so a business in Council Bluffs gets the same process and the same person as one in Cedar Rapids.
Three things worth knowing:
The person who takes the call does the work. Caresa runs discovery through launch personally. No account manager relaying messages and no junior designer building it quietly in the background.
The pieces are planned together. Structure, copy, design, and analytics as one system rather than in sequence. Sites designed first and optimized later tend to look good and generate nothing.
2% of revenue goes back out. Revenue, not profit. Modest, real, and not something we intend to build a campaign around.

WHY IOWA BUSINESSES CHOOSE SQUARESPACE
Most people reaching out have already narrowed it down. WordPress can do anything but appears to need constant attention. Wix seemed easy but hard to leave. Squarespace came up, looked sensible, and they want to know whether that instinct was right.
For most Iowa small businesses it is:
-
Hosting, SSL, uptime, and updates are the platform's job. No plugin stack, nothing breaking overnight because two extensions disagreed. For an owner in Ames who'd rather not think about any of that, the absence is the point.
-
Responsive layouts from the start. Most people finding an Iowa service business are on a phone and deciding fast.
-
Editable titles and meta descriptions, automatic sitemaps, SSL, clean URLs, image compression. A genuine head start and not the finish line.
-
Hours, photos, services. No developer, no ticket, no waiting. Or leave it with us, as a preference rather than a dependency.
-
Your account, your domain, your content, in your name, paying Squarespace directly. If we parted ways tomorrow nothing breaks. Ask any designer you're considering how that works with them.
*Where it isn't right: large-catalog ecommerce, complex custom applications, and layered membership systems belong elsewhere. If that's your project we'll say so rather than force it.
FIVE THINGS MOST SQUARESPACE BUILDS SKIP (AND WE DON'T)
Plenty of designers will build you a Squarespace site. For most it's occasional work rather than the thing they do, and that shows up in five reliable places.
1. Keyword research before any design decision
Structure should follow how people search, not how a template organized itself. In Iowa the pattern worth catching is that a lot of businesses serve a radius rather than a town, so the searches that matter are frequently in the places you drive to rather than the place you're based. A shop in Ankeny competing across the Des Moines metro has a different page structure than one serving three counties from Spencer. That distinction should be settled before design, not discovered afterward.
2. Copy written by someone who understood the business
Most agency copy reads like it came off a shelf. Ours should sound like you describing the work to someone at a church supper. Plain, specific, no padding. It also has to be organized so a search engine can follow it, which is mostly a matter of headings that describe real sections and internal links that lead somewhere worth going.
3. Speed as a build requirement, not a later fix
A page taking four seconds on a phone loses a large share of visitors before the headline lands. The most common cause by a distance is photos uploaded at full resolution straight off a camera. Squarespace compresses what you give it and cannot rescue a 6MB file. We size and convert everything before it goes up and keep custom code minimal.
4. Local and AI search both accounted for
Ranking in Google Maps for the area you actually serve usually beats anything national, and answers from ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews, and Perplexity are pulling traffic from traditional results faster than most designers have adapted to. Both depend on structured data, a block of code invisible to visitors stating what the business is, where it works, and what it sells. Squarespace generates very little of it. We write it by hand for every page and connect it to your Google Business Profile.
5. A handoff that leaves you capable
At launch you should understand your own site. Every project closes with a walkthrough recorded on your site rather than a generic tutorial, a written guide, and a check-in at thirty days once you've had a chance to try something and break it. You shouldn't have to wait on anyone to change your own phone number.

Who We Build for
Four kinds of owner account for most of our work. If one of these is recognizable, we're probably a fit.
The Modern Tradesman
Plumbers, electricians, HVAC, roofers, contractors, landscapers, garage door companies, septic, tree services. The work is steady and the site contributes nothing. You can be the best crew in Cedar Rapids and lose the job to whoever's site was clearer at nine at night.
The Brand-Builder
Salons, boutiques, studios, restaurants, breweries, nonprofits, retailers. Appearance is part of the product, and the site should convert as well as it photographs.
The Personal Brand
Coaches, consultants, therapists, realtors. Your site is usually a serious prospect's first real impression and should match the standard of the work.
The Expander
Established businesses with a site already, wanting measurable return from it. Past launch, ready for compounding work.
How a Project Actually Runs
Six steps, refined across 200+ builds, designed to remove the drift that makes most web projects unpleasant.
BUSINESSES WE'VE HELPED GROW
More than 200 Squarespace sites. Seven-plus years on one platform. The businesses we work with want a site that earns a stranger's trust, appears when someone searches their service and their town, and makes contact easy.
We work across Iowa, remotely, statewide:
Des Moines metro including West Des Moines, Ankeny, Urbandale, Waukee, and Johnston Cedar Rapids and the corridor including Iowa City, Coralville, and Marion The Quad Cities including Davenport and Bettendorf Sioux City and northwest Iowa Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Ames, and Dubuque Council Bluffs and the Omaha metro side Mason City, Fort Dodge, Ottumwa, and Burlington
Ranking difficulty in Iowa varies by category more than by geography. Des Moines has real competition in professional services and a few consumer categories. In most trades and in most of the rest of the state, the competitor sites are old, slow, or missing the basics entirely, and simply doing the work properly is most of the advantage. Worth noting too that a lot of Iowa businesses sit close enough to a state line that some of their customers are searching from Nebraska, Illinois, or Missouri, which changes how the pages should be built. We'll tell you which situation you're in on the call.
We keep our portfolio private to protect our clients privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
If you want to run your own site without maintaining it, Squarespace. If you need deep customization, a large catalog, or complex integrations, WordPress. Most Iowa small businesses are the first case and get quoted for the second. Straight answer on the call even when it sends you elsewhere.
-
Because "website" describes wildly different things. A templated one-pager with stock photos and a template one with researched structure, written copy, and configured analytics are both websites and are not the same product. The quotes that seem too low usually exclude copy, SEO setup, and anything after launch. The ones that seem high sometimes include work you don't need. We publish starting prices and itemize scope in writing so the comparison is possible.
-
Yes. The platform isn't the ceiling for a small business site. What limits most Squarespace sites is that nobody wrote structured data, nobody planned page structure around real searches, and nobody built proper location pages. Build decisions, not platform limits.
-
Not for the work, which is remote either way. We're a Minnesota-registered business serving clients nationally and we say so plainly.
-
Yes, and for businesses serving a radius it's usually where the gains come from. We work out which places justify a real page based on your service area, then build them properly. Duplicating a page and swapping the town name hasn't worked for years.
-
No. Retainers are optional and month to month. Plenty of clients launch and never add one.
